I’ve been buying logs off a local lad who cuts trees and landscapes, for over 5 years now.
When ever he’s in the area, he gives me a bell or I give him a bell, drops them off loose, I handball them into the garden, in tonne bags.
Sadly he’s no longer offering this service.
So on the line I go, to find a replacement supplier…
What a joke the prices are!
At £80 a tonne, for hardwood logs, dried over time (seasoned as the so called wannabies call it) he was good value and always had them on hand, unless the posh types drained his supplies at four and five bags a time.
Imagine my surprise, when the online, trendy, log sellers are charging £130 and upwards per tonne!
Staggering!
Over £100 more expensive (I buy 2 tonnes at a time).
Not only did my old bloke cut the trees himself (in the process of his landscaping business) but they were stacked, dried and delivered, even on Sundays.
One of these trendies even wants £30 for delivery!
Is nothing sacred, local wise, anymore?
Adios logman, you gave top-notch service for so many years, at a decent, reasonable price.
As for the newbie, prospective log sellers, with their fancy websites and extortionate delivery charges, you need to reign it in and start charging at prices that reflect decent value and not the posh people’s level of charges!
Arseholes.
