Changing aspirations.

As middle age lands on you and ticks along, the vibrant, energetic and forward looking whippersnapper you were, gradually slips away, into the background, like an old forgotten face in the back of a faded old photograph.
The stresses and strains of everyday life, no longer become worth it.
The hunt for funds for the next adventure becomes tiresome and boringly routine.

Change is all around and no longer satisfies the hunger that once burned inside.
Energy fades away, gradually at first, then becomes more noticeable.

What replaces it all?
The need for calm, the need for an everyday normal life and the time to enjoy it.
What was once considered a boring day, suddenly starts becoming a much needed break away from the dramas that everyone else around you is pushing on through.

I don’t want the money, I don’t need it so it becomes less and less important.
I don’t need the money, time is the new currency, normality is the new aim, peacefulness (is that a word?) is the golden chalice of life.

What the younger see as, “Passing them by” is the gold over the rainbow that I seek.
As with most aspirations, I doubt I’ll ever get this either.
