Life lesson

Simple rule for staying safe online:
Imagine the person or business you are dealing with online, is a stranger on the street.
Would you do/say the same thing to the stranger on the street?

If it’s “No!” – then apply this online and don’t.

After spending over £200 in the past say three years, sprog2 learned a valuable lesson, from one of the online games that many play. Roblox.

Playing as normal, an admin notification that a person from Indonesia had tried to log into their account.
“Change/reset your account password” was the advice given by the Roblox admin.

Unable to log in to their account, they replied to the admin, to be advised, “Don’t worry, I’ll reset your account, just try to log in again and use the forgot password link”

Tried this, the lost password link just hangs now when tried.
Account access is no longer possible.

Back to the admin, “Please can you sort this out, as you reset it!”

Roblox admin, “We don’t do refunds!”

“I do not want a refund, I’m unable to log into my account after you have reset it, so I am unable to use the game passes that I have paid for!”

Roblox admin… No reply.

“You are in breach of the Sale of Goods Act, either unlock the account, or, transfer the game passes that have been paid for, to another account to be set up.”

Roblox admin, “We cannot help you, we will take part in no further discussions on this issue”

There you have it, not a sausage for their paying customers.
Taking money from children then closing accounts down. Nice work Roblox.

In a statement on a forum, Roblox claim they do not have to abide by UK laws as they are not based in the UK!
WRONG Roblox!

If you are trading in the UK, you must abide by the UK’s laws. A report to Trading Standards will be made.

Valuable life lesson learned for the Sprog: Don’t pay money over to faceless arseholes, that sit at desks in foreign places, making money off the back of your money, then treating you like shit when there’s an issue.

Delete Roblox from your devices and close all your remaining accounts. Put it down to experience and next time you get the urge to pay money to advance in a particular online game, DON’T!
