The social media group little hitler!

On bookface, my timeline/newsfeed, call it what you will, is full of pictures and videos from my local area historical groups.
One of them, is specifically named “The history of …….. group”

The rules are basic and common:
– No spamming
– No politics
– No advertising
– No self-promotion
– Be nice to other users
– All posts to the group will be authorised by the moderator
This type of thing, pretty straight-forward stuff.

Today I get a few pictures from the group appear on my newsfeed, of one of the town centres in my area.
Now being a nerd, 17 years ago, with an old Sony video tape camera, I filmed all around the town centre, early one morning, as I read that much of it was due to be fenced off and demolished.
So no talking, no waffle (unlike me) I videoed around the shopping centre and bus station and depot that was due to be knocked down.

I sat on this footage for years.
I kept it safe on a hard drive, thinking that in future years – say around 10 – I’d have a platform or website to show it on.
So a few months back, somebody posted a comment on a picture on the historical area group, “We always get pictures of older times in the area, wouldn’t it have been good if someone had taken some film of it, so we could see what it looked like walking around!”
I rooted out the old footage and uploaded it to my new youtube account and linked to it on my new website.
Nothing flash, just a very basic platform for me to mess about with on my hobby.

Now for three or four months a few people have commented but nothing special.
Today, I get pictures popping up of the town centre, back around the time I took the video footage of it.

I posted to the “History of … group” a direct link to the footage on youtube, under my own name, with no promotional spin for my website, etc.

“The site admin will authorise your post”

That was hours ago, in the meantime, the same site/group admin has posted numerous times to the group, but not yet authorise my post.
It was shown as “Pending” 3 hours ago, now I’ve just checked and it’s not pending anymore, it’s simply vanished.
Not confirmed and allowed or a reason for denying it to be posted given.

Hold on a moment, it’s fine for the group to spam my bookface newsfeed with endless pictures from the same time period, but when I post a link to actual film footage of the very same things in the pictures, it’s not posted and no reason is given?
It’s not deemed to be equally as historical as the photographs? Really?

I looked through the “Discussion” list.
There are numerous companies advertising a business via their facebook handles in the group, you can buy raffle tickets from a museum that’s not even in our area, you can discuss cotton bobbin tanks, read a vlog of one of the members, even a post about scooby doo (how that’s relevant to the history of the area is anyone’s guess?)
But post actual historical video footage of an already permitted photograph and discussion and it’s blocked by the group’s admin?

I scrolled through my own newsfeed for posts I’ve done in the past.
There I found the answer.

Months ago, I had on my newsfeed, endless almost daily photographs from the group, by the very same admin of the group.
Each and every one of them had the same thing…
– An old reposting of a picture of the area (someone else’s photo)
– The same old theme posted with the photograph, “This place looks familiar, but I just can’t place it. Can anyone help?”

There then followed numerous comments about the place in the photograph (spammed on to my timeline/newsfeed)
I posted one comment, “Yet another photograph with the same ‘I don’t know where it is’ question. I thought you came from the area?”

The posts stopped immediately.
Obvious to everyman and his dog that he was spamming (against his very own facebook group rules) to generate interest in his group.
So that would explain why none of my posts ever since (granted not very many) have never been authorised and put on the group.

Simply a marketing exercise by a little hitler. Get out more.
I’ll post the direct link on my own account, with a note informing friends (that are also in the same group) of the refusal of the group’s admin to post what is clearly a historical film record of the area, which he thinks he owns!

UPDATE:

Just a quick look on his own timeline reveals he’s set up local area groups for all over the surrounding area.
He’s also set up groups on pubs, music, all self promoted. The fool.
He’s telling one group he’s from a town in their area, then he’s telling another group in a different area, that he’s moved into the area a few years ago.

All using the same format and set of rules.
